How a Health Sharing Organization Works

How a Health Sharing Organization Works

A recent study by the AAPA found that 73% of U.S. adults "[[say that the healthcare system is not meeting their needs in some way]{.underline}](https://www.aapa.org/download/113513/?tmstv=1684243672)." And considering the stories we're constantly hearing from our members, we're inclined to agree.

At WeShare Health, we want to offer more than just contracts, fine print, and legalese. And if you're new to the idea of healthcare sharing, it can be hard to picture how the day-to-day process actually works. Here's a straightforward walkthrough, using WeShare Health as the example.

Step 1: You Join a Health Sharing Community

WeShare Health serves as a connector facilitating Sharing Programs that help Members support each other with their medical expenses. When you become a member of a health sharing organization, you contribute a Monthly Contribution Amount, which the health share records and securely stores in an escrow account. Each month, you'll receive an explanation showing how your contributions helped other Members with their eligible medical expenses.

Step 2: You Receive Care

When you need healthcare, you'll present your WeShare Health Member card to a participating provider. At your appointment, you'll pay any applicable Consult Fees relevant to your program (don't worry, we break all of this down clearly). Thanks to our partnership with the largest individual PPO network in the nation (PHCS), WeShare Health ensures you get the best possible price for your care.

Step 3: Your Bill Gets Reviewed and Shared

From there, our team takes your provider's bill, determines if the services you received are eligible for sharing, and applies your Annual Member Care Share based on the membership guidelines for your sharing program. We then send eligible amounts to your provider and provide you with an Explanation of Share, so you'll know what's left to pay, if anything.

Step 4: You Use Your Other Benefits

Our community is not just here for emergencies or doctor visits; we also partner with various health and wellness organizations to help you care for your overall well-being. You'll have access to all these sharing benefits from the moment you join. Plus, we have a dedicated team to ensure you fully understand your Sharing Program and its perks.
